Compounded Sterile Solutions for Sinus Nebulization via the Sinustar® Delivery System

The ability to nebulize antibiotics, antifungals, steroids and other medications using the Sinustar® Nasal Delivery System, has given our patients the ability to reduce the number of acute episodes as well as to enhance treatment tolerability due to a decrease in the side effects associated with these medications taken internally.  With a small particle size leading to greater deposition, the sterile solutions we prepare for sinus nebulization are extremely effective and well tolerated in our patients. These solutions are pH balanced and preservative-free!

Aminoglycosides: Amikacin, Gentamicin & Tobramycin
Cephalosporins: Cefuroxime, Cefazolin
Quinolones: Ciprofloxacin, Levofloxacin
Other Antibiotics: Azithromycin, Vancomycin, Sulfa/Trimethoprim
Antifungals: Amphotericin, Fluconazole, Itraconazole
Steroids: Betamethasone Sod Phosphate

Miscellaneous: Acetylcysteine, Betamethasone, Cromolyn, Mupirocin

The safety profile indicates that these nebulized solutions are well tolerated and have almost no discontinuation of therapy secondary to side effects in our patient population.  These nebulized solutions should be considered as an alternative for patients with chronic sinusitis that have failed to respond to oral therapy or other therapies with poor results or lack of compliance
